Simon Scarrow's Blackout : An "It'll Do" Type Of Book

As I was reading Blackout by Simon Scarrow I was reminded about a joke by Irish comedian Ed Byrne on the Mock The Week TV show. Under the byline "Unlikely lines from a TV Commercial" he just came up to the podium and said:

"Pepsi....It'll Do"

Blackout is unquestionably an "It'll Do" type of book. By no means awful you do nonetheless get the feeling that you could (and have read) tomes better than the one you're holding at that moment.
